The space at Sitosna has been mindfully constructed, built from all sustainable, eco friendly materials. The insulation is organic hemp which provides a healthy chemical free experience with great sound dampening effect so you can enter a meditative space within yourself without noise distractions.
Locally sourced wood paneling covers the exterior walls, the plunge rooms are covered in Yakisugi wood paneling, an ancient Japanese method of finishing wood boards making them water resistant, fire resistant, mold resistant and insect resistant while also creating a calm mood in the space. The ceiling is an organic-bio acoustic ceiling to provide sound dampening and a chemical free ambiance in the space.
Our saunas are made of traditional Cedar as well, we've carefully curated this space to make it feel as natural as the woods themselves. We've also incorporated natural cork, brass and copper into our building materials hand picking all of our handmade accent pieces.
The floor is the original concrete slab which we stained and refinished to up cycle and make use of pre existing structures in a sustainable way. All of the furniture you'll see at Sitosna was made by a close friend of ours and made from American grown lumber and hand crafted just south of us in Maryland. All of our construction was done by local tradesman, giving back directly to our local community.
At Sitosna we believe we are nature and encourage everyone to return to themselves through this practice and reconnect with the nature within. We encourage everyone to dive deeper into their personal and spiritual lives and connect more closely with each other and their community.
